I started with a 2 gallon betta tank and within 6 months I had a 55. I love staring at my fish. I got a 52" tv the same day I got my 55gallon and I have watched the tank considerably more then the tv lol, still haven't got around to programming the remote for it

Getting a tank next to your bed can be very distracting but it is great. How many different 55's are u setting up here?

Or even better, a tank over your bed.

i have one 55 thats been up for a while, i just had ich so i removed everything but the fish to treat them. so now i just want to turn that into a planted tank. all the tanks in my sig are set up already. besides the new 10g that im setting up for the koi angels. i wont have that running for about a weekish. It is pretty hard to convince your significant other that you need another tank. but i recently found a 125 gallon tank for pretty cheap on craigslist so im trying to bribe her into putting the 55 in the room and the 125 in the living room.
also as for a tank headboard that would be sweet. my girlfriends step dad has a 50g as a headboard on his water bed. hes the one who started me in the fish game.

Alright so this was my first tank. I used fake plants with a bit of bamboo just cause i was to scared to try to plant it...plus at this point with my first tank the aquarium bug hadn't fully bitten me yet lol. So pretty much my girlfriend had gotten her daughter a ten gallon tank for a betta but it just sat at her house for a month without ever filling it up. So i was out one day and I saw the 1.5 gallon little mermaid betta tank, so I bought it and gave it to her daughter and just took the ten gallon. After going to the local petco I allowed to aquatic "specialist" to convince me a ten gallon is totally cool for a red tail shark.....little did i know he was lyingggg........

*sigh. Often the "specialist" has only a few hours of training, mostly on how never to say "no, you shouldn't buy that". Translate "fine' as will work for the duration of the guarantee, don't assume anything past that.
I have met some really knowledgeable people working in chain stores, but they are all self-taught.
If you can, let the bamboo stick out of the water. It will likely live longer. Occasionally feel the stem, when it gets soft, throw it out.

Lol yeah, on my birthday my buddy had bought me a Black Ghost Knife cause a "specialist" said it would be chill...and mind you this was before i even got my 55. But alright will do man thanks for the info, ive since moved on from that tank but i still got some bamboo. I was actually hoping to build a sump under the tank on my 55 in the stand and use bamboo in it growing. Once I figure out what to use as the sump(the doors on my stand are to small to fit anything over a ten gallon :/)
Anyway I'm trying to find pictures of my 20g so i can add that one next but i honestly dont think i ever even took pictures :O I might have to skip that one...

I chose the same rocks and skull mountain when I first set up my ten gallon too!!! Lol
I have switched to black sand though... I really like it either way lol
