Movie Review- The Weather Man

Popular Chicago weatherman, Dave Spirtz, has a shot at the big time when a national morning television show calls him for an audition. Professionally, Dave is on top of the world, but his personal life is in complete disarray. Dave's painful divorce, his dad's illness and trouble with his kids have him poised on the knife's edge between stability and disaster. The harder he tries to control events, the more he finds life, like the weather, is completely unpredictable.

This was a really depressing movie. Dave's relationship with ex-wife and kids is in shambles... he is lonely and bored. He makes $240,000 a year in Chicago as a weatherman, he gets offered a job for Hello America in New York for 1.2 million a year and is torn between family and future.
I found myself mad that his financial/work life is perfect but personal life sucked. It was seriously depressing, so many things went wrong but man what is more depressing is it does happen. I personally really liked this movie. It contained the F-word every other breath so if you dont like constant swearing then I wouldnt recommend it. It is a very dark comedy with some very subtle humor. I gave it a B though overall. The casting was very good and acting superb. Nic Cage is great as usual.
The movies seem to be getting better and better as the year goes on, usually companies push for Summer box office hits, maybe their hits are the pits and their bad movies the sleepers. I think this Christmas season we will have a lot of good movies to look forward to.
