Native geographical area- Southeast Asia...particularly the surrounding islands
Native habitat - streams or slow moving river with a sandy flooring

Physical description - Khuli Loaches have a eel-like body and is scaleless They have about 15-20 brown bars along their body. These bars stops near the belly. Their body color is a pale orange-pink color. There are three barbels near the mouth.

Activity peak - nocturnal
Habits - can be very shy...preferring dark places such as caves or thick bunches of plants.
Spawning notes - Males tend to be slimmer than the females. Breeding requires a large well planted tank such as a 30 gallon. The female when carrying eggs will be heavily plump. The eggs tend to float and are bright green and in large quantities. After the eggs hatches in 24 hours, remove the parents and feed the babies infusia.
Other notes - Kuhli loaches also comes in albino form. A soft sandy substrate is ideal, since they like to burrow. Prefers to be in groups of five or more. There are also four other variants of the khuli loaches.
