I have done my fair research so I'm not totally oblivious but I just started a 30 gallon and am looking for free fish close to me

You would be better off paying a few bucks and getting fish from a reputable online breeder. Also, keep acre requirements for your species in mind.

I've looked into it but don't feel like paying 40-60 dollars on shipping. Being from a small area the lps also over charges for pretty much any animal
