Hello all! Happy to be a part of the forum!

Our Parrot fish have had (2) rounds of hatched fry. 1st time we removed them to another tank after about a week to keep them safe from other fish, they all died. Now we're (2) weeks in on 2nd round & fry are way stronger. They are swimming way better. Not sure what to do. We got a 3.5 gal tank to transfer them to. The only other fish aside from mom & dad is another female Parrot in 55gal. They are keeping her at bay, but won't be able to for long.

Any suggestions? Should we move fry to the 3.5 tank or leave them in 55 gal?

Any help greatly appreciated. Thank you! Pics attached.

Yep, if they are sharing the tank with other fish they will (i.e. the odd female), this is because they know their fry will be eventually eaten by other so might as well get something out of it. Also, I don't know why, but if the lights are off for a decent amount of time that also increases the chances, maybe they get stressed and/or confused idk, but just keep a light on. Here's a general tutorial I normally checklist for breeding.

Hope it helps!

Thank you so much for responding! The link is in another language, but I tried to follow it. Here's an updated pic of fry. They are keeping the odd female at bay. Guess, we'll either remove the odd female to the 20 gal or move the fry to the new 3.5 tank. Thanks for your answer. The light stays on until midnight, sooooo....hopefully long enough. We've been doing 1/4 water changes about every three or four days. We'll see what happens this go round!

personally , I would remove the odd female . you need a high fat high protein food for the fry to grow and flourish.

Wth! I don't know how this happened that I shared the tutorial in another language and know I can't find the one in English :ROFLMAO: .....I must have been in one of those days where I act as if I had dyslexia...... my brother has it so it wouldn't be that crazy to happen.

Great! I'm glad that you could follow it (even though it was in another language). NICE photos!!!! I love it. Please do keep us updated of your progress.
